10 PLACES TO VISIT IN THE HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ

1. Historic City Center with Charming Alleys

Velké náměstí (Great Square) and its surrounding lanes invite you to explore the heart of Hradec Králové. The atmosphere of the times of Czech queens is still present here, and you can admire sights such as the Canon Houses, the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, and the Marian Plague Column. The area also offers many stylish restaurants.

2. White Tower (Bílá věž)

This monument on the Great Square is a great landmark and serves primarily as a lookout tower. You can admire the Augustin bell, a historic clock mechanism, and a glass model of the tower that changes color.

One of the most photographed buildings in the city. But it’s not just the facade that’s worth seeing – inside is a playful and engaging exhibition on renewable energy, and you can also peek into the historic engine room.

4. Gallery of Modern Art

Impressive not only for its exhibitions but also for its unique blend of historical and contemporary architecture. The rooftop terrace offers beautiful views of the city’s historic core.

5. Museum of Eastern Bohemia

A perfect place for rainy or hot days. The extensive and interactive permanent exhibitions on the history of Hradec Králové and special thematic exhibits will keep visitors of all ages engaged for hours. 6. Church of St. Nicholas

A wooden church from the 17th century originally from the village of Malá Pol’ana in eastern Slovakia. It stands in the beautiful Jirásek Gardens, just a short walk from a scenic viewpoint at the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers.

7. Municipal Forests (Městské lesy)

A remarkable and vast area covering 3,800 hectares, featuring the main Hradečnice cycle trail, numerous walking paths, ponds, refreshment stands, animal enclosures with viewing spots, and playgrounds for children. A popular destination for both locals and visitors, easily reachable by public transport.

8. Bono Publico Staircase

This covered Empire-style staircase connects the Great Square with Komenského Street. The experience is enhanced by clever lighting and music – you can even choose a composition by a Czech master to accompany your walk.

9. World of Reptiles (Svět plazů)

A unique exhibition that takes you into a world of silence, suspense, and fascinating nature. With over 90 terrariums, you’ll see snakes, lizards, spiders, scorpions, and other exotic creatures. The site also includes a cozy café with refreshments. Opening July 2025!

10. Gallery “A Touch of the Past” (Galerie Dotek starých časů)

Located in the basement of the historic U Špuláků House, this captivating collection includes vintage baby carriages, mechanical music boxes, nostalgic toys, antique gramophones, and other rare items that transport you to a bygone era.
