HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ, July 25, 2025 – Organizers of the prestigious IRONMAN 70.3 Hradec Králové are thrilled to announce that the main race is officially sold out! A remarkable 2,150 triathletes have secured their spot and are ready to test their limits in the demanding combination of swimming, cycling, and running. A few final slots remain available for the 5150 Hradec Králové event.
Set for its second edition, IRONMAN 70.3 Hradec Králové is already surpassing last year’s successful debut. The main race, taking place on Sunday, August 17, will welcome a record-breaking 1,500 participants on a course that features 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling, and 21.1 km of running. An additional 660 athletes are registered for the shorter Olympic distance event, while 650 participants are set to take part in the PHO3NIX IRONKIDS children’s races and the 5 km City Lights Run. In total, the weekend will see 2,800 athletes from 60 countries take on the challenge.
The enormous interest confirms not only the growing popularity of triathlon in the Czech Republic, but also highlights Hradec Králové’s appeal as a host city.
“Selling out IRONMAN 70.3 Hradec Králové is a major success—not just for our organizing team, but for the host city and entire region,” said Race Director Roman Šinkovský. The significant increase in international participation proves that Hradec Králové and the Hradec Region are highly attractive destinations—easily accessible, rich in history and culture, and full of unique experiences. For Czech athletes, this event is becoming the highlight of the national triathlon calendar. I believe this unique connection between local and international athletes will create an unforgettable atmosphere for everyone involved—participants, spectators, and residents alike.
The sold-out race is also a source of pride for the Mayor of Hradec Králové, Pavlína Springerová. “Selling out the starting spots several weeks before the race start is definitely great news. Interest in the event is growing rapidly, and many athletes will surely be happy to return to Hradec Králové. At the same time, it confirms that Hradec Králové is a city unafraid of challenges and open to exciting opportunities. Last year, the combination of nature and the historic city center created a remarkable backdrop, and this year the race course will be even more attractive. I believe we will all enjoy this August weekend, and we’re already looking forward to what the next edition of the race will bring.”

For those who missed out on the main race, there’s still a chance to take part. A few starting slots remain for 5150 Hradec Králové, ideal for those who want to soak up the IRONMAN race weekend atmosphere and tackle a shorter triathlon (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run). However, all relay spots for the 5150 race are already sold out, underlining the strong team spirit and desire to share the experience among friends and colleagues.
IRONMAN 70.3 Hradec Králové also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France, with 60 qualifying slots allocated—30 for men’s and 30 for women’s age groups.
“This qualifying element adds another exciting dimension to the race,” added Šinkovský. “We also expect up to 60 professional triathletes from around the world, so we’re in for some thrilling battles between Czech and international elites.”
Beyond the racing, visitors and locals can look forward to a vibrant weekend in the heart of Hradec Králové. The city center will come alive with sport and entertainment, especially on Saturday during Den na Labi (Day on the River), featuring family-friendly activities, live shows, and delicious food. On Sunday, the Family Zone, IRONMAN Expo & Official Merchandise Store, and Food Truck Fest will all be in full swing.
The organizing team is now focused on final preparations to ensure a smooth and unforgettable experience for all athletes and spectators.
We look forward to seeing you in Hradec Králové this third weekend of August!
